The species differ in features such as the shape of the cranium and the face, showing that Au. sediba was more derived compared with Au. africanus. WebThese features include the shape and size of the skull, the shape of the teeth, and the orientation of the bones. Osteological landmarks can also be used to differentiate between species and even subspecies. The study of these features allows researchers to gain insight into the evolutionary history of primates.
